Background

John C. Tripp is a seasoned editor and journalist, graphic designer and art director with over 20 years of experience across publications, advertising agencies, financial services, and design studios. His expertise spans editorial design, brand identity, packaging, and creative direction.

Tripp’s passion for publishing began early. While in college, he co-founded IPSO FACTO, a groundbreaking music and design magazine, later relocating it to San Francisco, where it became known for its coverage of emerging electronic music and culture. He collaborated with renowned graphic artists Stuart Patterson, Steven R. Gilmore and Rex Ray. IPSO FACTO was a prototype magazines that followed, including Wired and XLR8R.

In Miami, Tripp played a key role in several publications. He was the Advertising Designer for Ocean Drive magazine in its inaugural year, served as Art Director for Destination Jamaica, and published Tip, a music newspaper highlighting Miami’s Afro-Latin and urban music culture.

His design expertise extends to financial services, having worked with Deloitte Touche, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Scudder, and Morgan Stanley, crafting client proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. In advertising, he has held creative and production roles at major agencies like Crispin & Porter, Publicis, Grey Healthcare, Taxi, and Saatchi & Saatchi, working in Miami, New York, and Chicago.

Tripp’s diverse portfolio also includes collaborations with leading publishers like Miller and Bloomberg, design studios such as Shostak, and agencies like The Professionals, Cheryl Roshak and Aquent. His work with Aquent in San Francisco, Boston, and Miami earned him the title of “Creative of the Year” in Miami.
